    Hi,
how would you shoot a timelapse where the sun is in the picture?

A video camera would have a hole burnt in the CCD chip(s) after a few minutes. How about film cameras?
It wouldn't burn the film, because most of the time, the shutter is closed ... but how about the shutter itself? Or the viewfinder?

Interesting, you may have the same idea in mind as me, do you mean sunsets or daytime sunlight.

You may find some camera light meters will be totally automatic, and will turn the exposure right down so the image is almost black, but not having much experience im not to clear on it.

I was thinking of normal daytime, but sunset would be interesting too.
Obviously the iris will need setting manually.

Maybe they've built themselves an apparatus that shields the camera from the sunlight when it's not actually taking the picture. (piece of cardboard on a servo motor, maybe?)
